The Biltmore Estate was built by American magnate George Washington Vanderbilt II in the late 19th century. It was modeled after the mansions of Europe and is a prominent example of America’s Gilded Age. The Biltmore House, which is part of the estate, is the largest home in the United States, covering an area of 178,926 square feet (16,623 square meters) and sitting on more than 8,000 acres (3,237 hectares) of land.

During the holiday season, the Biltmore Estate transforms into a winter wonderland with its annual Christmas at Biltmore celebration. The event features over 100 hand-decorated Christmas trees that adorn the home and the estate, along with thousands of twinkling lights, themed music, and special candlelight evening experiences. The daytime celebration allows visitors to explore the elegant rooms of Biltmore House, which are beautifully bedecked with Christmas trees, ribbons, garlands, and thousands of twinkling lights. The candlelight Christmas evenings offer a more intimate experience, with flickering candlelight, glowing fireplaces, and live music that invite visitors to imagine themselves as guests at the first Vanderbilt family Christmas in 1895.

This year’s Christmas at Biltmore celebration runs from November 3, 2023, to January 7, 2024. During the daytime celebration, the Biltmore House is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for tours, while the Candlelight Christmas Evenings run from 5:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. The winery is open until 7 p.m.

You can enjoy a small-group tour from Nashville to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The tour starts with a hike through the forest, followed by a mountaintop yoga class that is appropriate for all levels of experience. The yoga mat is included, so you don’t need to bring your own. The tour is guided and limited to a maximum of 10 guests, making it a more personal experience. You’ll get to stretch out your mat at the summit, soak up the views, and unwind with a 1-hour all-level yoga class (weather permitting).

You can take a semi-private kayak tour along the French Broad River with a naturalist guide. The tour will take you through town, passing by local attractions such as the Biltmore Estate. Your guide will provide narration and answer any questions you have about the natural world around you. This is a great way to get a unique perspective of Asheville from the water. The tour is limited to five travelers for a cozy experience. All necessary equipment, including a kayak, paddle, and life vest, will be provided 1.
